Sooners better than later...

The Fighting Irish schedule for the upcoming years has been a hot topic of controversy for some time now for many Irish fans. The Irish A.D., Kevin White, has been putting together a list of games that is considered as watering down the future Irish schedule as an attempt in getting back to the "barnstorming days" of Rockne. Kevin, are you kidding me? Well, most Notre Dame fans, including yours truly, do not consider Nevada, Baylor, San Diego St. and Washington State, in Texas mind you, the answer to a apparent weak schedule in the following years. However, there is a glimmer of hope. Notre Dame and Oklahoma are planning on playing a home-and-home series in 2012 and 2013. Two major powerhouses in college football meeting in this fashion is an intriguing match-up. Scheduling problem solved, right? Far from it. Oklahoma has been added to the Irish schedule to replace Michigan in 2011 when the Irish-Wolverines contract expires. So, we have exchanged a heavyweight for a heavyweight and that is it. As of right now the Irish have the following games scheduled for 2012 and 2013:

2012 - Home - Purdue, Pittsburgh, BYU,
Away - USC, Rutgers,
Navy (Dublin), Oklahoma (location undecided) Baylor (Dallas)

2013 - Home - USC, Navy, Arizona State, Rutgers
Away - Purdue, Pittsburgh, BYU
Oklahoma (location undecided)

I hope Kevin White has Alabama's phone number handy. Saban has been asking for an ass-kicking Irish style, and Kevin, we surly have the room on our schedule. Remember those neutral sites the Irish are being slated to play in? Wasn't the Citrus Bowl one location mentioned? Personally, I would love to see the Tide and Irish renew their classic confrontation instead of an Irish-Duke,Central Florida, or South Florida battle any day. I know the reasons why A.D. White wants the Dukies, UCF or South FL. (gate money, TV , win for BCS) but come on. Notre Dame playing Alabama is what College Football is all about. Plus, every Irish fan would love to shove Nick Saban's 3 wins over the Irish up his ass. Kevin, the first step to redemption is one phone call away to Tuscaloosa.
