If you have ever tried to get tickets to "The House That Rockne Built" to watch the Irish in person, you know how hard they can be to find. Well, now they can be found pretty easily through a ticket broker, however, you might want to consider taking out a second mortgage to pay for some of the elite Irish games this year. According to TicketCity.com, which is a ticket broker, the ND-PSU ticket is one of the most sought after tickets of the 2007 season. Here is a listing of the 5 most expensive tickets as of right now for this upcoming season, see if you recognize a repeating name -Game - Location - Price Per Ticket
- ND V.S. Penn State - State College - $1,100.00
- Mich. V.S. Ohio St. - Ann Arbor - $1,000.00
- ND V.S. USC - South Bend - $950.00
- ND V.S. Michigan - Ann Arbor - $696.00
- ND V.S.Boston Coll. - South Bend - $661.00
Did you notice a pattern with a certain team?
The Irish also are at #21 versus UCLA ($344.00 per ticket) and at #46 at Stanford ($186.00).
Complete List of games
Now for all of those who have said Notre Dame is no longer an elite program, all you have to do is see this list. Why would people people want to shell out big-time bucks to see a non-elite program? The answer is - they wouldn't. All teams circle the date on their calendar when they are scheduled to take on the Irish. A team's season can be deemed as a success with a victory over Notre Dame, whether the Irish are playing at the top of their game (Holtz, Weis years) or whether they are down (Faust, Davie, Willingham years). Penn State fans have been obsessed with the rematch with the Irish from the second the scoreboard hit triple zeroes last season reading Irish 41- Lions 17. As for USC, do you remember the 2005 game? So do the fans who are paying $950.00 for a ticket this year. I can only imagine what the price will be next year or in 2009 when the Trojans and Irish are battling for a spot in the BCS Championship game. Michigan fans have been talking national title this season. Plus, the only thing Michigan hates more than books is the Irish. As for Boston College, well the Eagles have had Notre Dame's number the last couple of meetings. Nothing says Catholicism like two catholic football programs beating the hell out of each other. It's the Holy Cross Brothers versus the Jesuits.
These ticket prices are significantly out of my price range, and I would have to say you have to be a little crazy to pay these prices. Hopefully, TicketCity is throwing in a program and a hot dog voucher for those buyers. But, I have to admit, I love seeing the Irish in the top five four times.
