Week 2 Predictions

After a long, depressing week following the Irish game last Saturday, hope has returned as a new weekend full of college football is upon us.

My predictions for last week were far from spot on as I finished the week with a record of 4-2.
Wins:

Prediction:PSU 45 Fla. Int. 6 Actual Score: PSU 59 Fla. Int. 0

The Blue Band did not play, but JoePa could have inserted them in midway through the second quarter and still covered the spread.

Prediction: Wisconson 31 Wash. St. 17 Actual Score: Wisc. 42

Wash. St 21 Badgers' passing game does in the Cougars.

Prediction: UCLA 38 Stanford 13 Actual Score: UCLA 45 Stanford 17

Almost predicted this one to the score.

Prediction: Cal. 27 Tennessee 23 Actual Score: Cal 45 Tenn. 31

Why did Tenn. kick to Jackson? Even I knew not to do that.

Losses: UPSET SPECIAL Prediction Oklahoma St. 36 Georgia 34

Actual Score: Georgia 35 Ok. St. 14

Georgia stepped up and shut down the Cowboys' offense.

Prediction: Notre Dame24 Georgia Tech 17 Actual Score: Too painful to type. Let's just pretend this game did not happen.

This Week:

Nebraska VS Wake Forest Wake will keep it close until the 3rd. Then, Nebraska will take control with their passing game.

Nebraska 34 Wake Forest 21

Miami VS Oklahoma Randy Shannen will bring the Hurricanes ready to play, but the rebuilding process is still in effect. Miami will have some rocky times with Freeman at QB. the Sooners will be able to pass, and if they can run this could be a rout.

Oklahoma 35 Miami 20

NC State VS Boston College BC welcomes back O'Brien with a loss.

Boston College 33 NC State 13

Oregon VS Michigan Embarrassment is all that has been on the Wolverines' minds this week after last Saturday's unbelievable upset. Oregon brings a good team to the Big House. and the Ducks; wide-open offense will cause problems for Michigan just like last week. However, Michigan is going to get back on track with a W, and they will then prepare for a visit by the Irish the following week.

Michigan 34 Oregon 31

UPSET SPECIAL
TCU VS Texas
Texas did not look good at all last weekend against Arkansas St. only winning 21-13. TCU beat Baylor convincingly last weekend. McCoy is going to be a great Texas QB, but I just have a feeling Texas needs another week to click. This is an unlikely upset, but I am going out on a ledge.

TCU 28 Texas 27

Virginia Tech VS LSU Virginia Tech came out very flat last weekend versus E. Carolina, while it took a half of football for LSU to get rolling. LSU will be ready from the get go.

LSU 24 Virgina Tech 7

Notre Dame VS Penn St.
My Head
On paper, Notre Dame seems to be at a disadvantage at every position. Factor in a Freshmen QB starting for the Irish, a non-existent running game, the revenge factor from last year, and 110,000 plus Nittany Lions fans at night equals a disaster for the Irish.

Penn State 38 Notre Dame 16

My Heart Notre Dame refocuses like never before and Charlie comes up with a game plan that shows everyone in America that he is indeed a genius. Morelli stares down receivers and throws 3 interceptions. Austin Scott runs 15 times for 15 yards and fumbles twice. Armando Allen returns a kickoff for a touchdown and Zibby returns a punt for a touchdown. Lastly, Clausen goes 20-25 for 312 yards and 3 td's. Heisman talk begins at the end of the game for Jimmy.

Notre Dame 35 Penn State 10

Realistically, ND has to build for the future after last weekend's debacle. Irish fans can't focus on just one game, but instead look for steady improvement. That is easier said than done. Personally, I want this game bad. I would actually sacrifice any other game this season (including navy and Duke) if the Irish can pull this one off. My head says "there is no way!" However, due to my hatred for the lions and their leader JoePa, I can not pick them to beat my beloved Irish. I just can't do it.

Irish 28 Penn State 27

Notre Dame wins on a last second TD (Clausen to Parris) ala the Snow Bowl of 1992. Realistic? Probably not, but i can dream can't I? Well at least until Saturday night at around 9:30 PM.
