Week Three Predictions

Well, here we are. Two games for the Irish and an 0-2 record with major concerns and question marks...still. This week the Domers will again play in front of well over 100,000 fans wanting to rip Clausen's head off in "The Big House." Both teams come limping into this contest, Michigan off of their thrashing by Oregon, Notre Dame after being "whited-out" by Penn State. The big question is : Which team needs this team more badly? Easy question. The answer is both. Michigan could be on the way of being one of the biggest preseason top 5 busts of all-time. Thank you very much Appalachian State. Notre Dame has 19 recruits who have committed verbally watching every game the Irish are being creamed in. Both teams need this win very badly. I expect both teams to play this game like it is life or death on Saturday.

The results of last weeks predictions were a bit disappointing. I finished the week 4-3. Overall this season I am 8-5. Thank God I am not betting on these games.
Last Week:
Wins
Prediction: Nebraska 34 Wake Forest 21 Actual Score: Nebraska 20 Wake Forest 17
Wake put up a great fight, but the Huskers just held on to set up a huge game this week against USC.

Prediction: Oklahoma 35 Miami 20 Actual Score: Oklahoma 51 Miami 13
Oklahoma dominated da "U" from the outset.

Prediction: Boston College 33 NC State 13 Actual Score: Boston College 37 NC State 17
BC could be undefeated going into South Bend.

Prediction: LSU 24 Virgina Tech 7 Actual Score: LSU 48 Virginia Tech 7
LSU is really good. I'm thinking Va Tech is not.

Losses:
Prediction: Michigan 34 Oregon 31 Actual Score: Oregon 39 Michigan 7
I was shocked and delighted at the same time.

Prediction:TCU 28 Texas 27 Actual Score: Texas 34 TCU 13
This game was tied at 10 at the end of the Third Quarter. Then, Texas woke up, and TCU went to sleep.

Prediction: ND 28 Penn State 27 Actual Score: Penn State 31 Notre Dame 10
My head was right on this one as I unfortunately predicted 38-16. I'm not bitter, I just hope PSU loses every game for the rest of the school's existence.

This Week:

Florida VS Tennessee
Florida has too much talent for the Vols. Also, playing in "the swamp" gives the Gators all of the intangibles.

Florida 30 Tenn. 21

Alabama VS Arkansas Alabama has their first true test of the season versus Heisman candidate Darren McFadden. I do not think Alabama will completely shut down McFadden, but the Tide will contain him just enough to squeeze out a win.

Alabama 17 Arkansas 14

Georgia Tech VS Boston College This is a great match-up. Tech is loaded. Their win versus the Irish was not a fluke at all. BC has a ton of talented experience. The winner of this game will win the ACC, and the winner will be....

Georgia Tech 34 Boston College 30

Nebraska VS USC A Sea of Red awaits the men from Troy. Because USC is at the top of the mountain right now they always get the opposition's best shot. The same will happen with the Cornhuskers. If the Huskers limit the turnovers and partially stop SC's running game, we will have a really interesting game in Lincoln. This game is HUGE for Nebraska. I mean huge! Nebraska shows they are ready to be back in the national spotlight. This is my UPSET Special of the week.

UPSET SPECIAL: Nebraska 31 USC 28

Notre Dame VS Michigan

The battle of the defeated takes place in "The Big House". Michael Hart guaranteed a win this week for the Maize and Blue. So, Michigan will win, right? Not so fast. The battle of diaper dandies will occur Saturday as Ryan Mallet battles Jimmy Clausen. Both freshmen can expect a lot of blitzing. Michigan will be able to run in this game. I expect Hart to have a big game. Mallet will throw deep on several occasions, and I am sue he will connect on a few long balls. But, Charlie is going to open up the Offense this week for Clausen. Expect Carlson to catch at least 5 passes this week. Also, the Irish will not show a parallel passing game, but instead, Jimmy will show off that Million Dollar arm. If the Offensive line holds up to run just a little bit and give Clausen time to complete a 5 step drop, the Irish will win. If the O-Line plays like they did the last two weekends, the Irish will lose. I think the O-Line gets it done just enough. The Irish will have POSITIVE YARDAGE running the ball as Allen and Aldridge will get a combined 25-30 carries. Clausen has time to breathe behind the front five and throws his first TD's as a college QB. The Irish will get their first win of the year, and the wheels completely fall off of the Big Blue Bandwagon.

Notre Dame 27 Michigan 21
