Darren Walls appears to be out for the entire 2008 upcoming season according to WNDU.Com. Walls cited personal reasons for leaving the University. This is a hard hit to the Irish secondary due to Walls' improvement throughout last season. Walls' most memorable play from last season was his 73 yard interception return for a Touchdown versus Penn State. He recorded 23 tackles last season and two pass break-ups.
D.J. Hord has also made the choice to transfer out of Notre Dame. The highly touted receiver never lived up to his potential and suffered through a serious calf injury while at Notre Dame. Hord has plans to transfer to a Division I-AA school.
